Microsoft Copilot training for Councils
Training for Local Government Officers that respects the "Member/Officer Protocol" and the reality of public scrutiny. Delivered by trainers who understand the public sector.
We Speak "Local Govt"
We know the difference between a "Member" and an "Officer." We understand what "Purdah" means for rollout schedules.
We know that every email you write is potentially a front-page story.
We don't teach "business efficiency." We teach how to handle Freedom of Information requests, Committee Papers, and Public Consultations without burning out.
Specific Council Upgrades
This version of the course adds three specific agents built to handle the unique administrative burden of Local Authorities.
Safety: The "Front Page" Test
We teach a strict Red / Amber / Green protocol aligned with GDPR and the heightened sensitivity of public records.
- → RED DATA Citizen PII (Names, Addresses, Council Tax Refs). Never in the prompt.
- → AMBER DATA Internal policy drafts, staffing rotas, anonymised stats. Safe within your tenant.
- → GREEN DATA Published minutes, website content, public leaflets. Safe everywhere.
What happens on the day?
This is a specialized version of our Core Copilot Essentials course. It uses council scenarios (planning objections, complaints, press releases) instead of generic examples.
Morning: Reality & Transparency
09:30 - 12:30
We cover the "hype vs reality" of AI in the public sector. We focus on data safety, preventing "hallucinations" in statutory documents, and maintaining the human audit trail.
Afternoon: The Build (Council Specific)
13:15 - 16:30
We build the specific agents listed above. Officers leave with working templates for managing inbox overload, drafting reports, and handling complaints.

LGA: Generative AI in Councils
The Local Government Association highlights the potential for AI to "improve productivity and resident satisfaction" but warns of the need for staff skills. This training provides those specific skills.
DLUHC: Digital Planning
Central government is pushing for a more digital planning system. Using Copilot to summarise objections and validate applications aligns directly with the modernization agenda.
The "Do More With Less" Reality
With budgets squeezed, the only way to maintain frontline services is to drastically reduce the cost of administration. Copilot is the only tool that offers a step-change in admin speed.
Book a 30-minute call. We'll check if your council's Microsoft tenant is ready and discuss pilot groups (e.g., Democratic Services or Planning).
